A new way to remove scratches from glass

Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC, your Mt Pleasant glass provider, is proud to announcethat we have purchased a glass scratch removal system made by GlassWeld. Why is this a bigdeal you ask? Well, the shower glass that we install comes wrapped in protective plastic. Theplastic film is not removed until it is inside the bathroom in which we are working. The glass isthen installed, with the final step of the installation process being the cleaning of the glass. On some occasions, scratches may be visible after everything is completed. There are tolerancesin the glass industry for scratches, but the last thing someone wants to hear after investingmoney in a new shower door is “ sorry mam,sir , that is within industry standards”. In thepast, the glass would have to be removed, and a replacement glass installed. Of course, thiscosts us and the customer time and money. A compound is applied with a buffing pad and a specialized drill. Depending on the type and severity of the scratch, this could take between 5minutes, to upwards of thirty minutes. Hopefully , we will not be using this new tool often, butit is nice to have at our disposal for all of our Mt pleasant glass customers. Please check our blog next month for exciting news in the residential glass and remodeling industry

Mount Pleasant Glass needs are changing

As East Cooper continues to see growth and expansion, it is important for subcontractors to stay proactive in developing ways to provide consistent service.  New products are available , and it is always a challenge to provide our Mount Pleasant glass customers with the latest materials.

At Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC, we are continually looking at trade publications, and scouring the web to make sure that we are familiar with the ever changing landscape that is bathroom remodeling.   Residents are growing tired of their outdated bathroom fixtures, and old worn out shower doors.   It is amazing what a difference some fresh lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and a new shower door can do to the overall look of a bathroom.

These quick , and relatively affordable upgrades, can be a great and effective alternative to a costly overhaul.   Please consider LGSD for all of your Mount Pleasant Glass projects.  We offer many services besides shower doors , such as: window glass replacement, mirrors, table tops, and more!

A revolutionary shower door system which requires no cleaning

We are pleased to bring you a variety of new and exciting shower door options to the Charleston glass market. For years people would ask “how do I keep my new shower door looking like new?” While there is no miracle self cleaning glass currently available, we are happy to share with you several advances in the shower door industry. Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC is able to let our twenty years of local experience make your shower door purchase virtually effortless. Let’s discuss glass options, and advice on maintaining your glass purchase.

One exciting product available to the Charleston glass scene is “Showerguard” by Guardian industries na.en.showerguardglass.com. It is common for people to have a white film appear on their shower glass. Our customers often ask, “what do I use to remove the soap scum?” In many instances the white film or etching is not soap scum at all, but rather corrosion of the glass. “Showerguard” uses patented technology during the manufacturing process to provide a permanent coating designed to prevent corrosion, etching, and mildew. Guardian offers a lifetime warranty, and Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC is proud to be a registered dealer of “Showerguard”. Choose us for your installation, and Guardian will give you a $50.00 rebate.

Another option that is available to the Charleston glass market is “EnduroShield.” www.enduroshieldusa.com This is an applied coating at one of our area glass distributors. “EnduroShield” offers a ten year warranty, and claims to reduce cleaning time by up to 90%. This can be a more cost effective option when it comes to some of the treated glass options available now.

If you already have a frameless glass shower enclosure, or have decided that a factory protected glass option is not in your budget, then there are other ways to keep your glass looking great. Several Charleston glass companies have recommended to their customers to treat their shower doors with “Rain-x” as a means to protect against film and corrosion. Upon doing research, I came across several articles which strongly urged homeowners not to use this product inside of their homes. Apparently, this product can be toxic in an indoor setting, and it is designed to be used outdoors only.

The best thing for keeping your shower door looking new is a squeegie. They are widely available and come in a variety of styles and price ranges. As soon as you are done showering, simply wipe the glass in a downward stroke with the squeegie. A “magic eraser” by Mr Clean is also a great way to keep your glass looking great.

Please choose Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC as your Charleston glass service provider. We would be glad to answer any shower door related questions that you may have.Whether you currently have a shower door, or are in the market for a new one, we are hear to help. I googled glass Charleston SC now what?

It can be quite a process to look for subcontractors when starting a remodeling project. A majority of people will turn to their trusty pc, or smartphone and try several searches for keywords. Suppose you are in the Charleston South Carolina area and you are in the market for a new shower door. Hmmm, you ask yourself? How am I going to find a glass company I can trust. You might type glass Charleston SC in the google box.

Then the work really begins. This is where Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC would appear on google. It is a way of doing business now, and as a business owner, google is a vital part of keeping current in a competitive market. Our suggestion is to call at least three companies. It is usually pretty apparent over the telephone whom you think might go the extra distance to insure quality and great customer service. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Most companies purchase materials from the same distributors, so pricing is usually pretty close. It is the customer service and attention to detail that you should be focused on. Next time you are considering a new shower door, google “ glass Charleston SC” , and give us a try!

Early Planning is Important while planning your new bathroom

It is amazing how often the shower glass design is overlooked in the early stages of bathroom planning on many of our Charleston glass projects. Too many times, things are placed in the bathroom with no consideration of how the shower glass will fit and function. Keep these things in mind when planning your bathroom renovation, and you’ll be glad you did

Access to shower controls- It is critical to design the new shower keeping in mind that you would like to have easy access to your shower control valve. How many times do you get in to take a morning shower and either freeze, or burn yourself while you wait for the temperature to come to the ideal range. It is not necessary to have the controls on the same side of the shower as the shower head. Early on, ask your plumber his/her input in the location of the controls. Keep the shower door in mind when making this decision. Frameless doors open both outward and inward. Ideally, you would like to be able to turn the water on from the door side while opening the door before taking a shower. Conversely, you would like to be able to open the door inward when you’re done showering so that all of the water drips into the shower, and not out on your new tile floor. Therefore, placement of the shower head comes into play so that the glass does not hit it when opening the door inward.

Toilet placement- It is so common for homeowners to manage their own renovations, that many times what seem to be obvious things, get overlooked. Frequently when out estimating new Charleston glass jobs, I come across toilets which are placed directly in front of showers/ tubs. Many of the openings are also fairly narrow which greatly limits shower glass options. When have the plumber do the rough in, keep in mind that you will need enough room to open a swinging shower door, or enough width in your shower to install sliding bi-pass doors if that is your preference. You need a minimum of 24” clearance for a shower door, and around a 50” minimum opening for sliding bi-pass doors.

Towels- Again, it seems obvious, but being able to reach for your towel when you are done taking a shower, is a big deal. You will regret not keeping towel bar placement in mind early on in the planning process. Make sure that when the glass door is opened , you can readily grab a fresh towel to dry off. We do offer towel bars which can be installed onto our glass, but it detracts from the clean aesthetics of the frameless glass

Please feel free to call us @ 843-261-3536 with any questions that you might have regardless of what stage you are in your project. Lowcountry Glass & Shower Door LLC is proud to be your Charleston glass experts
